Hellllllllllloooo friends!!!!!
My oh my do I miss your little faces. This whole starting a new college thing kind of blows. My classes are great, but I have yet to jump on the friend train. I keep having to remind myself that it's only the first week...but stilllll.
Today (my first Saturday at school), I woke up super early, like we're talking 7:30am, and went downstairs for a pancake breakfast, which was supposed to be followed by a day of service around Seattle. Except, I didn't sign up when I was supposed to, so I asked an RA if I could still go, and he said I could go over to the place and see if there were any spots open and then fill out some paperwork and then pull blackberries until 3 pm. So, I nodded as if that all sounded good, but really I was thinking "wow! what an awful way to spend a Saturday". So, I ate some amazing M&M pancakes and talked to another transfer from across the hall and decided not to go. In my defense, I spent a large portion of my summer pulling blackberries. NOT FUN hahaha. So I went back up to my room when everyone else went to do service and planned out how I would spend my newly wide-open Saturday.
When I returned to my room, my roommate was just getting up. She's pretty cool. The only problem is that our room is TINY and she is ALWAYS in there. She seriously never leaves. So I always leave, to avoid dieing of claustrophobia. Today, of course, was no different. So I grabbed my stuff, map quested this giant Goodwill and headed out. As I was leaving, I decided to call my mom. It was one of those really really sad and depressing phone calls where I was trying not to cry the whole time as I told her about my pitiful life haha. By the time I got off the phone with her, it was time for an early lunch, so I stopped by the cafeteria for some chicken strips and a delicious smoothie. I sat at this table overlooking Mt. Rainier (amazing!) and read The Stranger (which is kind of like SF weekly) and just about died laughing.
Then I started off on my Goodwill adventure. Turns out this Goodwill was like 4 miles away in this super sketch part of town, but it was seriously the biggest Goodwill EVER. I was kind of getting depressed when I was in there though because it was really stuffy and dark and there were all these screaming children and people cutting in line at the fitting rooms. So I took my cute Target shorts and maternity dress and left. I didn't really know where I was or how to get back, so I hopped on a bus that said Downtown and ended up... you guessed it, downtown. From there, I proceeded to get on another bus up towards Capitol Hill and got off and walked the rest of the way back, stopping at Tully's on my way back for a non-fat iced mocha (half off!) and filled out an application. At this point, I was feeling much much better about life (coffee'll do that). Then I called Meagan and talked for a long time and returned to my dorm room to find... you guessed it... my roommate. ohmigod. Seriously?!??!?! It's a beautiful Saturday! Leave this freaking dungeon of a dorm room and go DO SOMETHING. She is currently watching an I Love Lucy marathon. I think I want to die. I miss not having a TV. Oh well. I will get used to it I guess.
Tonight, I might go to some masquerade thing in an abandoned warehouse in Wallingford with this kid named Kelly who lives across the hall. We're both sad and lonely transfers haha. It works.
Anyways, the moral of this story is that I MISS YOU GUYS!!! I'm enjoying myself for the most part up here in the beautiful PNW, but it's definitely a tough adjustment. Today, I found myself comparing everything to San Francisco; the neighborhoods, the people, the buses etc... I think about you guys all the time and lovvvvvvvvvvvve you soooooo much.
I hope you all had an amazing Saturday and ate some Ike's for me :)
Also, did you get any large mail yet?
Love and high fives from the PNW,
