Pretty......
This is awesome! Check it out....I want it....too bad it is $675. Sigh. But it would look so pretty in Mary's and my room...might not be legal (would it be considered a candle?) but still awesome.

Tires!
Goodness, goodness, goodness. My tire blew out today......I can't remember if I blogged about this but not too long ago my other tire blew out on the same road it blew out on today. God damn. It wouldn't have been a big deal since I know how to change tires (I finally learned the first time it blew out), but we hadn't got my other tire fixed yet so I didn't have a spare. Again, not a big deal except for the fact that my phone was dead, so I couldn't call anyone to pick me up or call AAA to come tow me or change it for me. To top it off I was in my pjs. I thought about walking to a friend's house who was close but I knew he was at work, so then I thought about walking back to Shawn's (a good couple miles), but I only had heels with me and it was a dirt road - not awesome walking conditions. Thankfully, I got my phone to turn on for about 20 seconds - enough time to call my mom and tell her as quickly as possible where i vaguely was and that I needed to be picked up. I was kinda scared that she wouldn't be able to find me though since I was out in the valley and she isn't to familiar with that area. But she found me and drove me home until we got my first tire fixed and then took me back to change it. So now I'm super good at changing tires! Except I had to lay on the grass to change it and it made my legs break out in extremely painful hives...so yeah, that was fun.
I leave in 15ish days!!!!
Miss you all!

Le Shark Week
Hello Friends and future family members ;) (uhm, what?)
So it is that time of year again, SHARK WEEK. Also my last day of sitting on children was today due to my vacation+the dad's vacation+ going back to school, I am no longer needed. Today we went to the zoo, the sharks truly stole the show. I am afraid of sharks. I guess it's not so much of the sharks, mostly just their teeth and their love for blood. Well bladhahdalblah Bob Hope. I came up with a name for my bike! Introducing....Dawson Leary! It's perfect, both born sometime in the 80s with terrible hair! So cool. Uhm, I have been drinking a lot of coffee since I came home but the last couple days I have realized around this time that I haven't had any. I usually realize this because I have a pounding headache and am really tired. aye. and the starbucks people have began asking if I want the "usual." Help. Tomorrow I am going to Oregon! Yea!! I am so excited, the coast is epic. I really recommend a visit to Lincoln City sometime in your life. MT is coming as is Kelsey H.'s family so it should be jolly good. Only 17 more days until I leave for SF! Crazy! I am excited, but also wish that I made more money. Unfortunately my desire to spend is much much much much much much higher than my desire to work so this usually never works out in my favor. I was thinking it would be kind of cool if all my stuff in storage burnt and then I got to buy new stuff. But I really doubt that would work out. I have also come to conclude that I have been at home for 2 months and haven't missed anything in storage. I am not really sure what is in all of those boxes, there are a lot in that little unit. Well this was a ramble of a blog. Love and Miss you all to pieces.

Birthday fun!
yay its my birthday! thanks for all the happy birthdays etc!
so yesterday quinn and i went up to san luis to see our other cousin casey. it was actually a lot of fun. i played frolf for the first time! not going to lie, it brought back bad memories from my early days of golf and totally sucking. but oh well. then last night we hung out with a couple of my cousin's friends. then, being the great influences that they are, quinn and casey decided that it was their duty as my older cousins to get me drunk on my birthday. thanks a lot. but it was fun though, even though i had to drink beer, which i do not like. oh well

:-O
So last night I got to go to my first movie premier, and go backstage at a Kevin Costner (Modern West) concert, and then hang out in Kevin's hotel suite. omg.
When my cousin Quinn was little he was best friends with his next door neighbor, Ben. Ben's father Larry is now the drummer for Kevin Costner's band. Kevin is from Ventura, which is like half an hour away from here. He wanted to have a special premier for his new movie, Swing Vote (its actually really good, I recommend it), in his hometown, followed by a special concert by the band, which did all the sound track for the movie and has a small scene in it. Since Quinn is visiting, Larry (who actually dated my mom's little sister in high school and has all these weird connections to my family) got us tickets to the premier and VIP passes to the concert and stuff. Then after the concert we were all hanging out back stage, then people went to the bar at the hotel they were staying at, but some people thought that was too loud so we just all went up to Kevin's room. It was kind of crazy.
Oh also really weird, some of Larry's other friends were talking to him right after he got off stage as we were walking up to him and they were like "Hey what ever happened to Jimmy Gallagher?" And Larry was like, "Well he's right there!" It was so weird, I guess these were some of Larry's friends from high school and they were my dad's neighbors when they were little and stuff. It was kind of funny though because my dad like does not remember them, he even called my aunt (Quinn's mom) and she didn't remember them either. But they were going on and on about his motor cycle and bunk beds and working for my grandpa in the summer and all this stuff so apparently they were like really good friends, or just have some freakish obsession with him. And one of their wives went to high school with my mom and like seriously there really were just all of these crazy connections. They were very nice though and it was fun.

Comic Convention
So as most of you know I am a huge nerd (remember the Star Wars tattoo?). So every year around this time I go to the comic convention in San Diego. This year was sold out and the crowds were really bad! Hence the picture below, that was the line I had to stand in to get my badge.

Now one of the great things about Comic-Con is the stars. I saw Hugh Jackman, Keanu Reeves, Seth Green, and that guy who played Cedric Diggery in Harry Potter.
Now what would comics be without half-naked women...this is my favorite. Her name is Tera Patrick...she is HOTTTTT!
And how could I forget the Klingons from Star Trek. So I went to a panel for Star Trek just for giggles and it turned out that ALL the hot guys who attended Comic-Con were in that room (YES!), I am just that good. And it was freaking hilarious.
I also met my favorite comic book artist, Ben Templesmith. He signed my comic book for me and drew a little sketch in there as well and then proceeded to show me his leprechaun erotica. They were drawn in various Betty Page poses (don't worry there was no full nudity...but a lot of pasties). Basically, I love Comic-Con. Oh but I hate anime kids...with a fierce passion.

Well Hello My Lovers!
I first need to say that I'm counting down the days until I head back: 23ish! While in Denver I have been buying things for the dorm...and boy am I excited. Also! I got a call from Mary the other day saying that we are officially roommates! Yes! Life is officially good.

I head back to H-town tomorrow bright and early in the morn'....that is also very good. I have had my fill of hospitals and sickness for a long time.
I bought new pajamas the other day and boy do they make me happy. I have a new robe now! It isn't as fluffy and green and duck-y as my old one....but it is super classic and classy! And! I even got new slippers to match it (kinda)!
So question. You know how by soaking hemp in water it becomes softer....do you think that works with burlap? Cause I have these great sacks I want to sew into floor pillows...but they are kinda scratchy...and I need to find a way to make them softer. Any ideas would be helpful.
I miss you all so very much!

Summer time and the living's easy
Hello Friends and fellow members of the blogosphere.
So the clock of summer is ticking and the days of schooling are drawing near. Less than a month until most of us head back to USF for orientation, yeeeeaaah!!!! Anyway, here's what I've been up to the past couple of days.
Friday: Well I received a new bike to bring back to school. It was my grandpas old bike but he got a new one for Christmas so I get his. It's lavender, has a furry seat and is a road bike. So epic. My mom and I went on a short little ride, it was majestic. I can't wait to go through Golden Gate Park on it. Now I just need a name. Suggestions?
Saturday: I woke up at the crack of dawn (aka 7am) and went garage sale-ing with my mom and sisters. Since my older sister is in the Navy, we decided to go to the Navy base and look at their crap. I don't know if any of you have every been on a military base, but it is intense, no Mt not in-tents, but it is a little city inside of these high security gates. They have multiple types of houses, apartments, bowling alleys, restaurants, grocery stores, starbucks and you could even buy a coach bag! (oh how I yearn for one of those puppies). It also turns out that the only thing that you can buy at garage sales is baby clothing. Since my older sis is preggers, it was a jackpot for her, but I did come away with some good things like a candle that's battery operated (so I don't burn the dorms down) and a little doohickey that allows me to take over the car radio with my ipod.
Sunday: My family and I headed to Olympia, WA (the state capital for you uninformed readers) for the farmers market. It was delightful. I had olive bread and Salmon Jerky for lunch.
Monday: I woke up before the crack of dawn (6am) and went hiking. I went with my grandparents (who are the informed and experienced hikers of the bunch), my mom, and Kelsey H.'s Mom, Pam, to beautiful Mt. Eleanor. It was great. It is one of the easier mountains to actually summit so that was quite nice to be able to say, "I climbed to the summit of a mountain today." Unfortunately I stored my hiking boots back in San Francisco so I hiked in Tennis shoes. Not the best idea because there was still snow and I had very little traction resulting in some very bruised and cut up legs. From the top of the mountain you can see Mt. Washington, Mt. Rainier, Mt. St. Helens, and all of the Olympics. All of the heavy breathing and loss of blood was worth it. In addition-I can barely move my legs 2 days later. All that elevation!! ahhhhhh.
Tuesday: My step-dad and I went sailing! He just began sharing this sailboat with a guy who has it moored in downtown Tacoma. It was really windy when we took the boat out. He hadn't been truly sailing in a long time and I know nothing about sailing and was very little help. There was one point when we were out in the middle of the bay and the boat was rocking back and forth doing it's little sailboat thing and my stepdad said "ok, so I am going to come about, what all that means I don't know, but it could be disastrous". Luckily we didn't die. It turns out come about is when the sails catch wind on the other side and you turn around...or something. I don't know. All I know is that I really didn't want to get dumped in the Puget Sound and had fun. haha.
Wednesday: My friends made fun of me for my lack of domesticity. It is sad. I better find a husband that likes to sew and cook........ahhhhahahahahaahahaha. Also, vote Larry Sequist for State Rep. hahahaha.

hello beezies
i miss you all! life in santa barbara is going fine. i only have one more day of classes then finals on thursday. THANK THE LORD. i cannot put into words how much i am looking forward to summer vacation. also thursday my cousin is coming to visit. i'm excited cuz i haven't seen him in like 3 years? plus we've never spent much time together so it should be fun. little known fact about my cousin- mt knows him too! anyways, so this week i went to the driving range twice. it had previously been over a year since i'd even touched my clubs. ali may be the only one able to fully understand this. i was a bit terrified, but it actually didn't go too badly. the balls didn't go as far as the used to, naturally, but at least i could hit most of them solid & strait. pretty exciting stuff. OH! other exciting news of the week, i almost forgot! i started packing!!! :-D this might be a little over zealous of me, but it for sure beats studying for finals. and it makes me even more excited to go back to school!
oh so last night i was looking at this blog that i think some of you would like. i heard about it a while ago but just remembered to check it out (also instead of studying) its called stuffwhitepeoplelike.com its pretty good stuff. and #91 is about san francisco! its kind of sad how true some of the stuff on there is. anyways, enjoy! xoxop (p for airlick)
p.s. 1 week till my birthday!

Work
So today was the stereotypical day at Cottonwood Golf Course. There was a charity golf tournament for handicapped children, drunken men and Playboy Bunnies. Oh not to mention a few girls from Deal or No Deal, and Hooters. There was free beer at every hole (we have a total of 2 courses at Cottonwood, so that makes a total of 36 holes). My Dad is a Marshall at the course and he had to report a tipped over golf cart, two carts which got drunkenly smashed in a ditch, and indecent exposure (he was mooned). Oh might I add there was 400 people in this tournament. So while my Dad was dealing with drunken men I was setting up.
When they came in for dinner they drank more and ran up a $2,000 bar tab in 3 hours (I guess it could have been worse).
After dinner I helped clean up 400 plates and glasses. And at the very end was asked by a Playboy Bunny to bum a cigarette. I happily obliged - as I normally do. I handed her the pack she looked at both ends of the smoke and looked at me and asked "I don't know how to smoke this, where is the filter?" So I politely explained to her that you could smoke out of either end and make sure to keep her lips dry when smoking it. This didn't really register and she remained completely clueless. Literally 5 minutes later a second Bunny asks to bum a cigarette. I give her my pack and honest to God she asked me the same thing as the first...verbatim. So I explained for the second time tonight how to smoke a non-filtered cigarette, luckily, this one got it.
But the ringer for the night was when I got into my car and looked over and saw a bucket with a black plastic bag hiding the contents of the bucket in front of my passenger seat. Now I had lent my Dad my keys earlier so I assumed he put the bucket in there. Well I peel back the bag and underneath is a half full handle of rum, eight beers, two energy drinks, one Gatorade, four mini water guns, and two cloths which you clean your glasses with - all of which my Dad had gathered from the various stations around the golf course (remember the 32 holes with free beer?). So I relocate the bucket to my trunk and head home after a long, hard day of work.

So...Hot......
I'm sitting at work right now, killing time before I actually have to start working...and our AC is down...and it is piping hot. Meh. Its 91 degrees in here! Holy Cow.
I'm going on a last minute family emergency trip to Denver tomorrow....so much fun. It will be nice to get out of town though. Sadly I will have to miss the Symphony Under the Stars - Buzz Aldrin is going to be there! And I will miss auditioning for ANTM....o darn....(that was a very sarcastic o darn...)
So this is probably turning into a very random/rambling blog...but here are some songs that are amazing to me right now: Your New Twin Sized Bed by Death Cab, Lost by Coldplay, Crowd Surf of a Cliff by Emily Haines, The Twist by Metric, The Fleet Foxes in general, and Stranger Lover by Ghostland Observatory.
Ok, now it is 92 here! Ahhh, someone come save me...I'm burning to death.
Well, I should probably actually work now. Laters!

Change?
Hello Friends!
So the time has come. Someone somewhere decided many moons ago that America's voting age should be 18. This being said, it is our first time (us being college freshman/soon to be sophomores) to vote in a presidential election! I am so excited. I couldn't think of a better time to be able to exercise my rights and make my vote count. Hopefully America is about to see some big changes. My biggest concern regarding the election has to do with, how do we decide who to vote for? It seems that everyone running has a plan for America's change and everything they are pushing in their campaign is going to "save" the nation. How can we really trust the information we get anyway? Politician's and the media are full of lies, right? And what about picking a political party? I grew up in a Republican household but have not always agreed with my parents politics. At the same time I don't necessarily feel I can align myself 100% with the democratic party. I see the danger in being a fence-sitter and never picking a side for fear of not wanting to deal with political drama, yet I also think it is just as bad to pick a party and support it 100%, no questions asked, or knock a candidate immediately, simply because they are of the opposite political party. Anyway, I digress. Like I previously mentioned, I am excited to learn more about the election, the candidates etc. Here's a little satirical video my mom showed me today I hope you enjoy it. At least I am not the only one who feels conflicted about the election. But really, can there be a perfect American President?
Good Learning,
K.

howdy
so i just got a bike, well cleaned up and took over my mom's old bike, and its the first time i've had a bike since like 4th grade and i forgot how great having a bike is. the last bike i had had the breaks where you peddle backwards, this one has like gears and hand breaks and all kinds of snazzy stuff, even though its older than i am.

so it looks even better in real life, it doesn't look so great here. (also notice the lovely dirt that is currently our back yard till the landscaping gets done). but anyways- bike riding is so much fun! i love it!!!!
so also, today instead of doing homework like i should have i read my journal from last semester- there's some good stuff in there. so it reminded me of some of the amazing times we had- like the midnight ice cream sundays, and epic weekend & epic monday, and all kinds of stuff that reminded me once again why i love all you guys so much and miss you so much!
i am so excited for this year!!!!
ps. 2 weeks till my birthday :-)
so it looks even better in real life, it doesn't look so great here.

A New Bit of Heaven
OK I have very amazing and wonderful news!!
I have a new wardrobe. I went shopping with my mum and we bought me a bunch of new clothes. And I must say children I look 5,000 times sexier now (if that is even possible). I was wondering as to how I even attracted men before, after all I had quite the dingy set of clothes. It is amazing how much a new outfit changes one's self-esteem. But yeah, that is about it, love you all!

So I normally hate yellow, but when I saw this sweater I for some odd reason fell in love and I had to have it.
This is blue...enough said
I like to call this my safari shirt. Apparently by the look on my face there is a giant African animal about to attack me in my room
And of course I am saving the best for last....Kailey I bought this shirt just for you so I can match the craziness of that jacket your grandmother bought you.

Hi poopsies,
Sorry for never having good names for my blogs. This will be a short one. I have to wake up in less than 5 hours and take on 20 teenagers and bucket toilets. Oh heavens. The good news is that this evening I made some very exciting purchases. First, my mom bought us both tickets to see Brandi Carlile at the Oregon Zoo. Ahhhh!!!!!! I'm pretty sure that she likes Brandi more than I do, which is hard to believe. Second, I bought my train ticket to SF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So much excitement I kind of don't even know what to do with myself. I will be getting into SF on Sunday morning, the 24th and leaving on Sunday night, September 7th so get ready to parrrrrrrrtay (and give me a weeee bit of flexi :) jk, you don't have to, but ali offered) Hoorayyyyyyyyyyy. I want it to be August right now.
Well it's off the bed for me, I just wanted to share my exciting news with people who will actually appreciate it.
Love you and miss you, blah blah blah.

From homesick to sick of home.
Hey Friends,
Isn't it funny how life works? I spent the better part of first semester wishing I was back in Gig Harbor. So much to the point that I probably missed a majority of fun and mayhem to be had my first semester of college. Flash forward to summer 08...I am sick of being home. It's hard to believe I lived here for 18 years. Don't get me wrong, I am very fortunate to have grown up in the family and town I did, but seriously enough is enough. I need out. I hate having my life reliant on others, sharing a car, constantly checking in, making sure it's ok if I go somewhere. I want my life to be my life...meaning I make the decisions. What sucks about this is that I don't get to make the decisions until I make the payments...looks like mom and dad will be calling the shots for a while. Thankfully USF isn't too expensive..what's another 49,ooo anyway. Let's just say I am really looking forward to being back at school. I can't wait to go on a walk at 2am just because I feel like it, or run to the mission for midnight nachos, or just leave and wander about the city, and not have to justify/beg for permission. It is also weird to go from being around friends/people in my age group 24/7 for the last 9 months to spending most of my time with 40+ers and the kids I babysit. I know age diversity is good but there's something about peers that is irreplaceable. Well thanks for listening to my ramble. I am sure it is what every other overprivileged, college going, American female is wining about. Thankfully it is all I have to complain about.
Love Forever,
Kailey
P.S. I have found a new show to watch...Weeds.

summer fun?
Hi guys!
so over the last week i've experienced my first wild fire. It started last tuesday night on the other side of sb (maybe 10 miles away? idk) anyways, its kind of basically terrifying. i think its weird how living in one area you get used to those kind of natural threats, so hurricane warning? tornado warning? so what i ain't scerd. but fire! earthquake! i am freaking out. the fire is still going on but its a lot more contained, for a while it was the #1 priority fire in the country- pretty big deal since there are like 300 fires in ca right now or something. but anyways the good news is i survived, and i don't think anyone died or any houses got destroyed.
also i learned that life goes on during a fire. so i had one of the most fun forth of julys that i have ever had- that is extreamly sarcastic. but i did get to see kris this weekend! so that was fun.
but now i have to go study for a huge astronomy test tomorrow and get a cavity filled. YAY!
i miss you guys

Independence Day aka F*** You England Day
Today has been a wild and crazy day in the life of Ali.
Firstly, my parents and I decided to go to the beach where my brother has a house on the bay, which is insane b/c all 11 million people who populate San Diego have the same brillant idea. So finding parking was a nightmare. Then when I walked into my brother's house I recognized NO ONE and for a second I thought I was in the wrong house. As it turns out they were all my sister-in-law's family and friends from the OC. So I helped myself to a beer and tried to introduce myself. Now my brother has this joke with me now that whenever he sees me I must have a beer in my hand, which is nothing new to me as some of you may remember. But the best is yet to come, my dad wanted me to meet him at a corner liquor store so I could give him money to buy beer. Well it takes my dad forever to do anything -really- so I decide to have a smoke and right when I walk past the store my dad is walking out. So I throw it to the ground, trying to look all innocent and he says "Ali, why did you throw your smoke on the ground? I am not a f***ing cop."
Children I was shocked.
So I decided to light up another and we walk back to the house together making nice conversation and when we get back my sister-in-law's brother takes out three jello shots and him, my brother and I take them.
I also had wonderful conversations with my sister and my brother - which never happens. And we went on a boat and I saw the sunset, oh and at 9 pm there were 4 firework shows all around the bay and beach. It was really cool!
To say the least I had a wonderfully pleasant day.

Sleep Please...
Good Morning My Friends!
So, ready for some HUGE news? America's Next Top Model is coming to my very own H-Town to do casting! OMG! ANTM! Hahah, but yeah, no joke.
I just got back home from sleeping under the starts on a tramp at a friends house. It was great. We have been having these amazing electrical storms for the past few day that have just been exciting to watch. One point in time yesterday I went outside and the whole world was this strange yellow color, it reminded me of the display at the MOMA. Do you guys remember that? The weird room that was just filled with artificial yellow light?
Well, yeah, it was like that. Once the storm had cleared up I saw 8 shooting stars (or some ridiculous number like that). So now I'm up at eight am which is way too early for anyone....so I think I might crawl in my bed and sleep for a couple more hours.
Good Luck Exploring the Infinite Abyss!

Family in the woods..or da hood.
So Hello,
I am tired and my back kind of hurts because I have been sitting in the same position for about a half an hour. Don't ask why, I kind of forgot to move. Similar to how occasionally I forget to breathe...I really do, I will catch myself not breathing for a while..and then think..wow, I forgot. I am kind of afraid this will happen during the middle of the night. Oh well!
On another note, I got a pedicure and my toes are BRIGHT ORANGE. So cute and so this season.
More importantly I hung out with my dad/that side of the family today. This included copious amounts of time with my half siblings...James and Hannah. After 2 hours of mudfights, 3 hours of splashing, and an undefined amount BBQ and smores I called it quits and came home. I love those two so much but man am I exhausted!
Here are some photos from our day.
I guess you can tell we are related because we all choose to make the same face!
I always crop people out! But I am the oldest so I was told it was ok.

hello friendies,
i miss you more than ever. i know i always say that, but this time it's even more true. i'm sorry i've been so bad about responding to text messages/phone calls/facebooks etc.. but i have received and appreciated each and every one of them!!! i got home a couple nights ago and am still trying to recover lol but then i will do a better job of being a good friend and respond. i think i might get to see kailey on the 4th or thereabouts and then she might come down to oregon so if any of you feel like making the trek, you are more than welcome to hang out at my house.
well, i'm off to a 4 1/2 hour first aid class (vomit)

bad day
hi guys, sorry but i'm not in a good mood (doesn't happen all that often to me so i really hate it when it does) so don't expect this to be an uplifting post. i got back my second econ quiz today and after getting a 100 on the first i got a 77, but it'll be curved so i just told my parents i got a B. at least i have an average of 101 in astronomy, meaning i'm ranked 2nd in the class. something about that seems suspicious but i'm not complaining. then i had to go to the dentist this afternoon. i hate going to the dentist. they did all compliment me on my teeth, and i'd never been to this dentist before and he seemed very nice, but they did all together way too much stabbing of my gums with that sharp metal tool and made me bleed way too much. and they told me i have a cavity so i have to go back next tuesday to get that filled so expect me to be in a bad mood for that post too. and the lady informed me that my teeth have very short roots (after they took a million and 5 x-rays) so i need to be extra careful meaning i bought this gel stuff that was $18. it better be good. and on the way home my 2 favorite radio stations had commercials at the same time. i hate when that happens. someone fill me up a dora the explorer cup.
ps. we're in july now, meaning it is less than 2 weeks until Brice's birthday & today is exactly 4 weeks until my birthday. i can only imagine how excited you all must be.
